This wholly online Positive Handling and Physical Intervention course is for those working with either Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults and is priced for 1 delegate. We strongly recommend that the physical aspect of this course is held in person, however, where this is absolutely not possible or when you are refreshing your training with us, we do allow delegates to purchase this full online course.
The course comprises of 2 sessions, which must be completed in order.
Session 1 - Legal Brief/Theory on the use of Reasonable Force. Duration 1.5 hours.
This Theory/Legal Briefing session covers all of the legalities surrounding physical intervention on one easy to navigate platform and comprises of 10 Lessons. Each lesson consists of a video followed by an assessment of multiple-choice questions. Delegates must complete all 10 lessons and assessments. The pass rate for each assessment is 80% and delegates must pass each assessment to be able to move onto the next lesson. Each assessment can be taken as many times as required until the pass rate is achieved. Once all 10 assessments have been successfully completed, your certificate will be emailed to you. Delegates can take this session as many times as they wish until they pass.
Session 2 - Physical Intervention & Disengagement Skills. Duration 3 hours.
The physical skills session comprises of easy to remember, low level physical interventions which are appropriate yet effective. All of our training is accredited, the techniques medically reviewed and manual handling risk assessed. This course enables staff to consider the holding, handling & escorting of their individual specific needs relevant to their workplace and service users. We take into consideration the size of your service users and the associated risks, your environment, any transport considerations, seated holds, breakaways and situations where staff may be left alone with a young person or vulnerable adult. Delegates MUST watch instructional videos and film themselves demonstrating the techinques and send them to us to assess. Delegates will not be certified until they receive our assessment and their certificate for this session.
Please include the full name and email addresses of delegates when making payment so that we may enrol them onto the course - or email these to info@safer-handling.co.uk. Once enrolled delegates will receive 2 emails from us, these confirm their enrollment and contain their indiviual unique log in details and a link to start the course. Once in the course they will be able to download the full joining instructions. Joining Instructions must be read in full before commencing the course.
IMPORTANT: Delegates do not have to complete the course in one sitting and may log in and out and progress will be saved. All delegates have up to 90 days to complete and pass the course, after which their enrollment expires. You must ensure that you have sufficient time and plan when you start carefully. Within the price of the course we allow you to redo any physical technique video/s you are required to, just one time after the first assessment. Please leave plenty of time for yourself to do this. If after this second attempt delegates do not pass then that ends this training for you for safety reasons. If delegates do want to become qualified after this, they must then book and pay for an in-person course at the rate applicable at the time, which is an in-house course priced for up to 12 delegates as you can see available in our shop.
